PowerPoint Presentation - To Be or Not To Be?
For this week's assignment, I revisited PowerPoint Presentation Software and created a presentation for my ESL Reading and Writing class. I used to use PowerPoint more often for my classes; however, lately, I have been using Prezi instead. Mainly, I like Prezi for its interactivity and ability to zoom. Students love them!
Prezi or PowerPoint, presenting our lesson plans using special tools is unavoidable; even more so - indispensable. Especially today, when those tools make the lessons more interactive and supportive of visual learners.
No matter what tool is used, below are the key steps to a successful presentation (according to Top Ten Slide Tips) :
Considering the relative advantage of using PPT, it is important to determine whether using the tool will make a difference in teaching and learning. Particularly in learning - will the students learn/understand/master the material being taught better as a result of using this software?
In case of the PowerPoint Presentation, the answer is obviously yes. Again, it will support visual learners - after all, the picture is worth of 1000 words! (if chosen right, of course.)
